Kota & Kenangan: Capturing Kuala Lumpur’s Identity Through Art and Heritage

03rd Nov 2026

Art, Culture & Heritage

Kota & Kenangan, a museum placemaking initiative by YTM in collaboration with Celebrate TV, was recently held at the National Telecommunications Museum (MTN) in Kuala Lumpur. The initiative brought together 40 students from ASWARA and UiTM, alongside more than 20 independent artists from the Klang Valley, for the Walk the Talk and Sketchwalk activities with KL Sketch Nation.

Both activities explored how telecommunications has shaped the landscape of MTN and the evolving face of Kuala Lumpur. Through sketches and artworks, participants captured their perspectives and memories, reflecting the connection between history, the city and its people.

The artworks will be showcased at the Kota & Kenangan exhibition from October to December 2026, alongside contributions from other artists throughout the campaign. Through a co-creation approach, each piece adds to a collective narrative celebrating Kuala Lumpur’s identity, heritage and way of life as a city that continues to evolve.
