Hayati binti Abdul Rahman, a housewife who has successfully become a food entrepreneur, has proven that strong spirit and unwavering determination can truly change one’s life. She is one of the 12 participants of the YTM F&B Entrepreneur Development (YTM-FED) Programme, a social impact initiative by Yayasan TM (YTM), in collaboration with Food Aid Foundation.

Previously, she ran a small home-based business, producing homemade cakes, cookies, and pastries. Although life was modest, Hayati was determined to support her husband in easing the family’s financial burden. With the skills she had, she took the initiative to turn her passion into a source of income so she could contribute more meaningfully to her household.

Everything changed when Hayati came across a Facebook post calling for participants for the YTM-FED Programme. With no high expectations, she applied and was eventually selected after going through an interview session. The programme became a stepping stone for her to sharpen her culinary business skills, while also learning the importance of teamwork, organisational management, and running a business professionally. Her experience conducting a trial business with other participants taught her the values of planning, communication, and patience.

Today, Hayati is more confident in growing her bakery business with a more systematic and professional approach, empowered by the knowledge and experience she gained. She is truly grateful to YTM for the opportunity given and hopes that more initiatives like this will be implemented to help others like her.

Hayati’s journey is a clear example that with strong will, unyielding spirit, and a little support, dreams can be turned into reality. She is now not only a successful entrepreneur, but also a source of inspiration for those who wish to change their circumstances and achieve success.
