SISCOORD 2025: Sarawak Strengthens Community Disaster Response Network

14th Jul 2025

Community & Nation Building

YTM continues its commitment to building resilient communities through the Intergovernmental & NGO Disaster Response and Coordination Workshop for the State of Sarawak (SISCOORD) 2025 — a three-day disaster coordination workshop held in Kuching, bringing together 60 participants from 32 state government agencies and non-governmental organisations (NGOs).

In partnership with key stakeholders including the National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA), Sarawak State Disaster Management Committee, and RED A Humanitarian Development Global, this initiative builds on the success of previous programmes such as SACOORD 2024 and RANDEX 2024, which played a vital role during the 2024/2025 Northeast Monsoon response efforts. The programme highlights the importance of grassroots-level disaster preparedness as a critical step in building community resilience and ensuring effective early coordination across the disaster response ecosystem during crises.
