EASTCOORD 2026: Strengthening Disaster Preparedness and Response Coordination
03rd Nov 2026
YTM in collaboration with the National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA) and implementation partner RED A, successfully organised the East Coast Coordination Exercise (EASTCOORD) 2026 to strengthen the preparedness and coordination capabilities of NADMA NGO Partners in disaster management.
Through scenario-based exercises, focused group discussions and evaluation sessions, the programme focused on three key outcomes:
- Strengthening understanding of NGO roles and coordination in information management, aid coordination and collaboration with government agencies.
- Assessing the potential of the Rakan NADMA Joint Coordination Centre (RJOCC) as an NGO coordination mechanism to support the operations of the Disaster Operations Control Centre (PKOB).
- Identifying operational gaps and improvement measures to enhance disaster preparedness and response effectiveness in the future.
EASTCOORD builds on YTM’s continued commitment since 2023 to strengthening the capacity of NADMA NGO Partners through RANDEX, SACOORD (Sabah) and SISCOORD (Sarawak).
In conjunction with National Preparedness Month 2026, YTM remains committed to supporting efforts to build a more prepared, capable and collaborative NGO network that can respond effectively during disasters.
