02nd Nov 2026

Art, Culture & Heritage

George Town, Penang, took centre stage as the grand finale venue for the TERANG Projection Mapping Competition 2026, bringing together emerging talents from Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore, Vietnam and Russia in conjunction with the George Town Festival.

From 125 submissions received worldwide, 20 outstanding artworks were selected for projection on the closing night at one of George Town’s iconic heritage landmarks, Penang Town Hall. Inspired by this year’s theme, “PASAR”, the competition showcased diverse creative interpretations through digital art.

Also in attendance was Puan Ainol Shaharina Sahar, Director of Yayasan TM (YTM), who witnessed the showcases and presented awards to the winners.

Combining art, technology, animation, sound and storytelling, the artworks demonstrated how digital technology can offer fresh perspectives on culture, community and heritage.

Through its Digital Tech Incubator (DTI), YTM remains committed to creating platforms and opportunities for young talents to experiment, develop their skills and pursue careers as digital artists and creative technologists. Since 2024, DTI has empowered more than 300 young artists through various programmes and initiatives.
