Efforts in RANDEX 2023 Disaster Preparedness in Malaysia

21st May 2024

Community & Nation Building

We at Yayasan TM (YTM) are honored with the presence and support of YB Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali, Minister in the Prime Minister's Office (Sabah, Sarawak Affairs, and Special Tasks), at the Closing Ceremony of Humanitarian Training in Operations and the Rakan NADMA Disaster Emergency Simulation (RANDEX) 2023, which was held at GlowPutrajaya on 22 September 2023. Also present were Datuk Khairul Shahril bin Idrus, Director General of the National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA), and YTM Director Puan Ainol Shaharina Sahar.

RANDEX 2023 continues the collaboration between YTM and NADMA implemented by RED A Global Humanitarian Development. This collaboration aligns with YTM's aspirations in supporting the Government's efforts to raise awareness of the importance of disaster preparedness by all parties towards effective disaster management in Malaysia.

This programme aims to equip NGOs and volunteers with relevant knowledge and skills in planning and implementing humanitarian aid missions. The programme also includes simulation training during relief missions in all disaster cycles, i.e., before, during, and after a disaster.

There were 39 participants from organizations like NGOs, higher education institutions, government-linked companies (GLCs), and corporations, involving 72 participants.

We hope that this programme can strengthen good relations among NGOs and enable them to be ready to cooperate under the umbrella of Rakan NADMA in helping communities affected by the disaster.

A big thank you to SMART, MARTS, UPNM, APM, PBSM, MRA, MERCY, NATECH, MYCARE, BEVITAL, IMARET, NADIM and HALUAN who also made this program a success.
