YTM Expands Humanitarian Reach, Delivers Post-Flood Aid to 1,500 Families Across Sabah

07th May 2025

Community & Nation Building

Yayasan TM (YTM) is expanding its humanitarian efforts by providing post-disaster aid to remote communities affected by floods in three Sabah districts: Lahad Datu, Kota Marudu, and Pitas.

Excitingly, this mission is led by alumni from the Sabah Humanitarian Operations and Coordination Training Program (SACOORD) 2024. The collaboration involves the IKON Malaysia Women's Club Sabah Branch in Lahad Datu and the Sabah Community Aid Association (BANTU) in Kota Marudu and Pitas. Several local NGOs, such as Sabah Relief, the Sabah Children's Mind Association (PMAS), and the Sabah LEV Project Education & Welfare Organization, are also participating in this effort.

The success of this mission demonstrates the effectiveness of the SACOORD 2024 training modules, which emphasize coordination, collaboration, and effective communication in disaster relief efforts.
In Lahad Datu, 500 families from eight villages received aid through food packs and comfort kits, including mattresses, pillows, towels, and blankets. Meanwhile, in Kota Marudu and Pitas, 1,000 families from 10 villages received basic food packs. This distribution was supported by local volunteers and TMROVers Sabah.

This initiative not only strengthens YTM's role but is also part of the GLC for the People & Nation (GDRN) efforts to support rural communities post-disaster. It also encourages strategic cooperation with local NGOs in Sabah to ensure more comprehensive and effective aid.
